Since a young age Nicola has had a passion for animal welfare. This led Nicola to pursue a career with animals. Physiotherapy has been proven to be beneficial in rehabilitation of many orthopaedic and neurological conditions. Nicola believes that paramount to this is the relationship between the therapist and the animal. It should be a positive interaction and the animal should be an active participant in the programme. Nicola is constantly striving to make each interaction she has with animals on land or water a positive one in order to make the most of the session to improve the animal’s quality of life.
Nicola graduated from Moreton Morrell Equine College with a first-class BA (Hons) in Equine Studies. Following this she went on to Graduate from Harper Adams University with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy. This course is accredited by the National Association for Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP). Nicola is also on the Animal Health Professionals Register (AHPR). In addition Nicola has gone on to study small animal hydrotherapy and is a Companion Laser Practitioner. She is also a fully qualified level 4 Human Sports Massage therapist.
After qualifying Nicola started working freelance treating the animals in the comfort of their own home or yard. Nicola also works for Cloud 9 Veterinary Physiotherapy offering land and water based canine physiotherapy. Nicola has extensive experience in the equine industry from working with RDA carriage driving horses, western performance horses, and leisure horses.
Nicola lives in Holmfirth (West Yorkshire) with her partner Edward, her son Zachary and of course the most important member of the household, Bean their rescue terrier. Nicola has a great interest in canine arthritis management as Bean has hip osteoarthritis and she has seen how regular maintenance physiotherapy can keep him living a healthy pain free life.
